We finished painting the fence--huzzah! The yellow irises are flowering a second time which has never happened before. They are not fall-blooming irises so this is very strange. I wonder if the long dry spell confused them. The roof and gutters were supposedly finished on Friday, but I noticed that the downspout from the upper roof is not properly routed across the lower roof and into the gutter. It is several feet too short and will dump water onto the lower roof which is a decidedly bad thing. I think I missed my calling as a building inspector. Luckily, we haven't paid them yet.

Congrats on finishing the painting! Yes, house repairs must definitely be inspected, good for you. In January I was lucky enough to spot three areas of damage that roofers made to the house before they left. I took pictures and alerted the foreman, and still had to make call after call to the company before all the repairs were made.

The struggle is real, unfortunately. This company has done beautiful work for us in the past, but this is the second major goof I have spotted in the roofing job (the first time, they put 2 by 3' outlets from the gutters to the two oversized 3 by 4' downspouts. Uh, not much point in having larger pipes if the entry hole is too small!) The city inspectors are coming on Thursday to give the job their blessing so hopefully they will spot any problems I missed.
