Very Possibly the Funniest Thing I Will Read This Week

A comment about a YouTube video of David Bowie performing "Space Oddity" circa 1970--

This song is so boss! BUT Oh my god, this guy just knocked off Marilyn Manson's style something crazy!! Get your own style dude, nobody likes a person who just copies. Also the vocals are slight copy of empire of the sun- he should realze this before he records.

:D

OMFG. Someone did not know who Bowie is before watching that vid. *headdesk*

And that song is probably one of his most popular--it still gets a fair amount of airplay around here. The mind boggles...

Kids these days have no popular culture. :)

Um, WHAT?! The stoopid, it kills...

(Oddly enough, I was just listening to "Space Oddity" an hour ago! Poor Bowie and his Marilyn Manson-style vocals...)

I love that song! Glamrock!Bowie and Wakeman playing the Mellotron--what could be better?

NO. LMAO!!!

Hee! Granted he was probably just a youngun, but it still made me laugh.

LOL. Where are these people coming from? A few years ago I had to argue with some guy on a forum who was insisting that the LotR books were novelizations of the movies (bzuh? I mean... really? How could someone be in the fandom and not know... ?), then last semester I mentioned Janis Joplin to some classmates and they just looked at me like deer in headlights, and can we please pause the universe before I start yelling that these damn kids should get off my lawn? *cries* :/

Someone on a forum once commented that Tolkien's books were great even though they were a blatant rip-off of Dungeons and Dragons! *head desk*

I hope the rest of the forum jumped in thoroughly and earnestly and sat on his head! Funny as it is, it's also very, very sad to see such ignorance.

Even Daughter, at 23, comes in and rages to me about the complete ignorance of world/social history - generally WWII and after, that seems to permeate youth-based forums, often to do with who was allied with who in WWII and the complete and utter arse-gravy spouted about Jews, Freemasons... and for some reasom ...early film, but then she was a media graduate so misinformation and daft misconceptions about early Cinema annoys her.

One of the people in the forum told him to go wipe his nose, lol.

I guess I'll give this kid credit for browsing YouTube to check out some different performers, but it is depressing that he had no idea who Bowie was.
