Slowly, Ragnvald led the way, skirting the heaps of the slain. He had bound up his companion’s wounds, but they needed to find the healers. The oliphaunt’s tusks had opened a gash along his shoulder and breast.

As they edged past the creature’s mangled hulk, the other trembled and sweated.

“Steady now,” Ragnvald said. “It is dead and can do no more harm. See, we are nearly past it.”

His companion shuddered and blew out his breath in an uneasy sigh.

“Would that this once I could bear you on my back,” Ragnvald murmured as he stroked the horse’s muzzle.

I don't post a lot, but I do post weekly on What Am I Reading Wednesday. And usually give a weather and garden report (because there's not much else, really) or grandkid update if I have anything new (more coming up in July). Don't be a stranger!

Eldest grandchild is getting so big! He looks all grownup. <3

We skyped with them on Father's Day - we don't get ourselves organized to do it often - and Jody seemed so grown up! I will be spending the first week of July with them and am looking forward to getting to know the kids now that they're bigger.
