Cherry Brandy

Just in time for the heatwave, my order of 20 pounds of sour cherries arrived yesterday from Michigan. I picked them up at a local farm. Most are destined for cherry jam (which is given away as Christmas presents), but I made two liters of cherry brandy this evening. This recipe had a reasonable sour cherry/vodka/sugar ratio, and I loved the essay about cherry growing and the photos that were posted with it.

That link has gorgeous pictures. Sounds delicious. I wonder how it would be with frozen cherries. I think I've just missed the season. I've got about 1.5 pounds left in my fridge, but this may be the last of the fresh ones.

I'll bet the frozen cherries would work. After all, you strain them out at the end so it doesn't matter if they are a little mushy.
