Comfort dinner and a movie
Jan. 24th, 2010 04:57 pmWe needed something uncomplicated and reassuring for supper so I am making tuna noodle casserole and Danish pudding. The pudding is just the mix made by Junket, but I am tarting it up with frozen raspberries and whipped cream. I don't know anyone else who makes "Danish dessert" and the ingredients read like a chemistry textbook, but my mother served it so it has a place on our table. To go with the comfort food, we are watching a comfort movie--"Outlander," yet another takeoff on "Beowulf." So bad that its entertaining, it's a lot of fun to watch. We aren't sure how Ron Perlman and John Hurt landed in this movie, but even actors have to pay the rent. There is an impressive number of movies inspired by "Beowulf," which is a very real tribute to the power of the story even if most of the movies aren't very good.
