Mind's Eye Production of LOTR
Aug. 10th, 2019 08:24 pmDriving back and forth from Pennsic (we made three round trips), we listened to the 1979 Mind's Eye production of "The Lord of the Rings." Loved Reverb Treebeard and the snarky Lieutenant of the Dark Tower, not as fond of the Gaffer's voice (he sounded senile and/or drunk) or the less-than-terrifying turkey gobble of the Nazgul. Lord Branwyn and I decided that Samwise would have made a better Ringbearer than Frodo since he was tougher and less imaginative. I could see him destroying the Ring then going back to Rosie and his garden without the lingering damage that Frodo suffered. We also considered whether anyone else besides Gollum could have guided the hobbits into Mordor. Aragorn probably could have led them to the border, but how would they have gotten over the mountains?
