As a member of the "younger generation" whom facebook was designed for, it really allows me to see what's my friends - especially the ones that I'm not too close too and normally won't bother texting/calling/emailing - are up too. And it's really good for organising events as well.
I've got several people on my facebook friends whom I've meet on the internet. Only 2 livejournal friends.
