B2MeM Day 14: The Lord of the Rings as Anime

Today's entry is in honor of Japan's many and outlandish contributions to popular culture. In anime, adult characters are sometimes portrayed as adorable, round-faced, wide-eyed children. These alternate versions of the characters are called chibis (Japanese for "cute").

Edit: There used to be the cutest set of chibi Fellowship icons out there, but it seems to have disappeared into the ether. However, I did find the mind-boggling Chibi Sons of Feanor.

I love chibis! :-D These are cute as well as funny -- poor Aragorn's sword got broken by Boromir, lol! The expression on Legolas' face is pretty awesome, as well...

One of our cats is named "Chibi Sybil" because when we got her, we already had an older and larger black cat named Sybil.

In many ways - I find those rather disturbing, the majesty of mighty elves reduced to... cute? *g* They are indeed mind-boggling.

...Though I do think Maedhros should have longer hair... of a brighter red...
