“We need a beast master, lord.”
“Beast master?” A mouse peered from the wizard’s hat. He reached up with one finger to stroke the grey velvet fur. “The beasts have no master, friend.”
The man stared at Radagast’s hat. “Vermin are eating our grain. We’ve tried traps and poison.”
“I see,” Radagast replied, trying his best not to. Trembling, the mouse burrowed into his hair.
Always men turned to violence. The shape of Arda might change, but this did not. Yet at least this man had sought his advice.
“I can give you herbs that will keep the creatures away.”
