The soundtrack choices made me laugh (for one thing, the Normans really shouldn't get the Rohan theme from LOTR), but the animated Bayeux Tapestry is still kinda neat.
I'm sure they wanted something that sounded duly heroic, but... yeah.
You want messed up soundtracks? The other day I was messing around on YouTube (looking for music to listen to while writing BMEM), and someone had put together a vid about the rapture. I was bored and the summary was just provocative enough to make me listen... and they chose the wraith theme for the coming of Christ. I seriously spit soda at that.
Can't find it now, but in the Carmina in the soundtrack reminded me of something posted a while ago. Have you ever seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH3GH7Pn_eA)?
Whaaat? O_O Now that IS a weird choice of music...though I've seen an ad on our TV here that used the tune of We Three Kings really inaproppriately (made me angry because that's my favorite English-language carol).
LOL! The Professor is turning in his grave, I'm sure (which is probably his usual pastime nowadays anyway)...and Carmina Burana?
What a great video, though! Made me a little sad, too, because I've been totally on the Saxons' side there all this time. :-P But you've made me think back to the piece of history I used to be absolutely crazy about: I'd read all I could about it, including the marriage connections between the Western dynasties and the Princes of Kiev...was fun. :)
The music was decidedly strange, but I just remembered that I read somewhere that Tolkien thought the Saxons could have won in 1066 if only they had been on horseback! :)

The Big Beer Ad is priceless, though. :-D
