Walking to Bree Challenge

Today I reached the next milestone in the "walking to Bree" challenge--the woods above Woodhall (46 miles total). Didn't see any Black Riders or elves. "The Atlas of Middle-earth" has the hobbits walking at 3.5 miles per hour for this part of their journey. That's pretty fast for their short little legs.

It *is* pretty fast. I'm glad you're keeping watch for Black Riders and elves, you never know....

That Atlas is such a gift to our fandom. What an incredible achievement.

The author based the calculations on what Tolkien told us, but I can't imagine walking that fast for several hours straight!
Agreed, it is an invaluable resource.

That article is awesome. The study authors assume that no one dies and everyone goes to Mount Doom. So the quest ends up like a DnD adventure where you don't want to split the party. :D
